Premium grade nickel plated steel needles. Large-scale Crewel or modern stitchery employs heavier threads for which you will want the sharp Chenille needles in larger sizes. They're good for fastening the ends of couched threads and are also useful in some areas of stump work.

I use them to tie off threads with my longarm quilting!  The eye is large enough to easily thread and pull thread ends through to bury in a quilt.
